My Therapeutic Style & Approach:

Change is an inevitable part of life that can sometimes be scary, anxiety inducing, and difficult to cope with. Because change is often fraught with unknowns, I believe a strong therapeutic relationship – one that is built on trust, empathy, compassion, and non-judgement – is essential to the healing process. While working through change can be a vulnerable and overwhelming feat, I will strive to be a welcoming and safe presence throughout your journey.

As an art therapist, my approach to therapy is creative and integrated. I draw upon humanistic and existential perspectives, as well as incorporate both traditional counseling techniques and creative self-expression in my work. At times we may struggle to find words to communicate or access our internal experiences. Art and art-making provides a safe space that allows us to transcend the barriers of verbal communication and tap into the subconscious. I often use art as a tool in sessions to assist in self-exploration, coping with stress, and enhancing mindfulness. Artistic talent and experience are not required – only a willingness and openness to be creative.

My focuses include working with adults of all ages to address a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem, and grief and loss. I also have experience working with individuals diagnosed with chronic or terminal illnesses, as well as their family members and caregivers.

Together we will explore and develop tools to cope with change, so that you feel empowered to navigate the natural ebbs and flows that life brings.
